Escaping the bombs and flames of Liverpool, thousands of children are evacuated to the relative safety of the British countryside. Rochel Sharfer, a young Jewish girl, is sent far away from the Torah life she knows, and finds herself alone with her little brother, Daniel, in the sleepy village of Scarisbrick.
