Riding Horses, Walking miles to a country school and swimming in irrigation channels are not usual puruits for orthodox Jewish boys, but for Aaron Feiglin growing up on an orchad outside Shepparton in the 1920s, it was all part of the life he loves. At the same time, he was part of the close-knit Jewish communityhis parents helped to create. On a visit to London, he met and married the beautifull Ruth Kanarek, a refugee from war-torn Europe. They returned to Shrparton, where Aaron managed the family orchad for five decades.

There is no longer a Jewish Community in Sheparton, so these livley stories provide a rare insight into a little-known chapter of Australian social history, in which a rural Australian community lived and worked in amity with its Jewish neigbours.
